Hi Friend,
Today is World Population Day, an important reminder that human population growth affects everyone, everywhere on this small planet. We're marking the occasion today, but every single day we raise the alarm far and wide about rapid global population growth. One critical way we do this is through our education program, Population Education.
Next week, 34 dedicated educators from the US and Canada will gather in Charlotte, NC for an intensive three-day National Leadership Institute designed to prepare them to become part of our volunteer Trainers’ Network. These volunteer trainers will join over 700 of their peers to lead Population Education workshops for K-12 teachers. Our volunteers present two-thirds of our 550+ workshops annually!
Supporters like you make this Leadership Institute possible! Thanks to the generosity of our members, it’s completely free for educators to attend. We cover approximately $2,000 in costs per person, so that they may join us in advancing our mission of global population stabilization.
I hope you you’ll consider making a generous gift of $35.00 today to help sponsor an educator attending this year—ensuring that Population Education finds its way into classrooms throughout North America.
It took until 1800 for our human population to reach 1 billion. Since then, it has expanded 8-fold, reaching 8 billion in 2022. The United Nations projects our population will continue growing until well into the second half of this century, likely peaking around 10.4 billion in the 2080s.
Population Education helps students understand just what this growth means. Our K-12 materials encourage students to think critically about how people interact with each other and the world around them—how we use our natural resources, how each of us impacts environmental quality, and how we can work to improve human well-being at home and around the globe. This unique program is a cornerstone of Population Connection’s work—ensuring that the next generation understands the vital importance of global population stabilization.
None of our work would be possible without your support. Today, on World Population Day, and every day, I thank you for your ongoing dedication!
