Upcoming Webinar: Navigating BC's One-Window Permitting Process

Early next week, CHBA BC will open registration for a new webinar on the province's one-window permitting strategy featuring Megan Williams, Director of Tactical Solutions at the Permitting Solutions Branch in the Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship.
This will be a great opportunity to learn more about the province's initiatives to streamline the provincial permitting process by creating a single, coordinated approach to housing-related permits and authorizations across several natural resource ministries.
The webinar will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 10:00 a.m. PT. We'll email registration details to CHBA BC members early next week.

CHBA BC is seeking an experienced policy advisor who is a strong consensus-builder with a sound understanding of the residential construction industry in B.C.
Reporting to the Director, Technical and Building Innovation, the Policy Advisor, Codes and Standards will be responsible for supporting the development of considerations and recommendations on proposed changes to codes and standards related to the design and construction of residential buildings. The incumbent will also provide programmatic support to the association's related committees and councils.

Homebuilding Industry Pushes Back on Proposed Construction Noise Bylaws in Kelowna

Congratulations to the team at CHBA Central Okanagan on their successful advocacy efforts to push back on proposed changes to construction noise bylaws in Kelowna.
CHBA CO argued that the changes would have interfered with construction schedules, making it more difficult to attract workers and increasing the time and cost to complete projects.
At its Monday, July 8, City Council Meeting, Kelowna Council approved new bylaws based on industry recommendations.

Dual Fuel Heating System Rebate

FortisBC is introducing a rebate of $10,000 to support customers who want to access the benefits of both the electric and gas systems by upgrading their aging gas furnace to an energy-efficient heating and cooling system. The dual fuel system consists of an air source heat pump paired with a high-efficiency natural gas furnace, both controlled by a connected thermostat.
