John -

Climate-destroying pipelines can’t operate without one thing: insurance.

By underwriting fossil fuel projects all over the world, U.S. insurance
companies are perpetuating the climate crisis.

Right now, American International Group (AIG) is insuring the East African
Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP). If built, EACOP would be the world’s largest
heated crude oil pipeline, stretching nearly 900 miles, burning six
billion barrels of oil, and generating over 34 million extra tons of
carbon emissions each year.^1

With your help, our movement has successfully pressured 28 insurance
brokers to drop EACOP — but so far, AIG has failed to reject this carbon
bomb.

That’s why, on July 26 at Summer of Heat in New York City, activists from
the Ugandan diaspora are leading a protest against AIG — and we need to
join them to send as loud a message to AIG as possible.

African Crude Oil Pipeline? Click here to sign up directly through Summer
of Heat's RSVP form.

EACOP is planned to rip through the heart of Africa, where it would not
only have a devastating effect on our climate but also displace thousands
of people in Uganda and Tanzania — and threaten some of the world’s most
important biodiversity hotspots.

That’s why local activists in Uganda and Tanzania have been fighting to
halt the project for years, even in the face of extreme escalation in
harassment.

We can amplify the efforts of these communities fighting fossil fuel
expansion by demanding that AIG stop underwriting destruction.

In solidarity,

petition demanding AIG drop EACOP. We’ll be delivering all petition
signatures to AIG on July 26!
