Busted: GetYourGuide’s Cruelty Exposed [[link removed]]

World Animal Protection often conducts hard-hitting research and investigations to expose hidden cruelty and drive transformational change that safeguards animals from exploitation.

This month, we’ve released a searing exposé,​​​​​​​ Making Memories Misery: How GetYourGuide Profits from Animal Cruelty [[link removed]]. For those unfamiliar, GetYourGuide is a Berlin-based travel company hoping to appeal to more US customers. Our research clearly shows the company sells tickets to Miami Seaquarium and other abusive animal attractions. Despite multiple attempts to speak to company leadership, we have not received a response.

Our exposé was covered in TravelPulse [www.travelpulse.com/news/tour-operators/new-report-criticizes-getyourguide-for-selling-tours-that-include-animal-cruelty], a leading travel news website, and in the article GetYourGuide blatantly lied to the journalist. The company’s spokesperson claimed that it removes activities that do not align with its policies and shared the updated ethical standards. But those standards clearly state that activities involving captive wild animals are prohibited. This dishonesty and hypocrisy is unacceptable, and we will not let it pass.

Our team is exposing this lie on GetYourGuide’s LinkedIn (as an emerging travel company in the US, GetYourGuide cares a lot about its image).
