Keeley is referring to a summer meals program approved by Congress that thousands of families like hers now benefit from in Northeast Tennessee. This advocacy win was a huge step for us toward ending summer hunger in rural communities across the country — and it was only possible thanks to supporters like you.

Now, as we continue to advocate at the local, state and federal levels for the adoption and expansion of more food programs like this one, we’re working with local partners to make sure they’re equipped with the vehicles, equipment and staff to actually provide families with the meals they’re entitled to. Through initiatives like a texting line and a meal finder map for families, we’re also helping families themselves access the free and affordable meals available to them.

For families like Keeley’s in Tennessee and across the country, these efforts are life-changing during the difficult summer months — when only 13% of children who receive free or reduced-price meals at school have access to meals.
