Dear John,
I'm sure by now you've seen the news that one of America's major political parties is watering down its long-held, resolute stand for life.
Like I said in my statement afterwards, the right to life transcends other political debates and the interests of any and all political parties and candidates. It is truly the right without which no other right has any meaning.
This is a truth that our political leaders on both sides of the aisle need to be reminded of.
You know as well as I do that our political arena is becoming increasingly devoid of biblical truth. Too many leaders are abandoning these principles, surrendering to perceived political expediency, which is a product of deception. But we must not compromise on the moral absolutes we find in Scripture.
No matter what any party or politician says, we will remain committed to defending the right to life and the sanctity of marriage. As we have since 1983, FRC will stand firm in advocating for truth, leading and equipping others to do the same.
STAND WITH FRC
Although our goal is to be a voice for truth in the halls of power, you and I know that we cannot look to any political party to defend and advance biblical principles. There are far too many voices on all sides of the political spectrum that are pushing to compromise, undermine, or even outright reject biblical values.
Whether it's the right to life for every child in the womb or the sanctity of one man-one woman marriage -- each of these principles is foundational for our nation, society, and families to prosper.
We cannot... we will not abandon biblical truth.
John, it may be tempting to become discouraged. But our hope is not in government and our hope is not in a political party. Our hope is in the Creator of all things.
John 18:36 says, God's kingdom "is not of this world," and as believers and citizens of God's kingdom, we should have an eternal perspective. We must not compromise biblical truth to advance temporal political objectives focused on the comings and goings of parties and elections.
There have always been those who want to compromise on or undermine life and marriage, using novel arguments to try and sway leaders and the public.
But we know from Scripture and experience that truth ultimately prevails. That's why so many on the Left and their allies in the media want to silence believers and organizations like Family Research Council. But we won't give up.
From our Washington Watch broadcast, to The Washington Stand news outlet, our podcast, Outstanding, and our new Stand Firm app, we're working hard to expand our communication channels and build cancel-resistant media outlets so that we can proclaim biblical truth when others won't.
This increasing cultural and governmental hostility toward biblical values and the Americans like you and me who uphold them should not shock or discourage us. Rather, we must redouble our efforts to boldly stand for truth.
Will you help us continue to voice and advance truth when lies and compromise are increasing?
PARTNER WITH FRC
At times like this, I am reminded of President Abraham Lincoln's last speech before his death on April 11, 1865. In it, he said, "Important principles may and must be inflexible."
Let's rededicate ourselves to the cause of true freedom -- freedom that celebrates life rather than discards it, that upholds marriage rather than reveling in counterfeits.
At the end of the day, all that is being asked of us is to be faithful... not to fear, but instead to respond in the spirit we've been given: one of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
I believe faithfulness speaks volumes in a time of confusion.
When we are faithful to the unchanging word of God, history has shown that there's nothing that can't be accomplished!
We're honored to stand alongside Christians like you as we fight the good fight and defend the faith.
