Mo Green, the Democratic candidate for superintendent, is the most radical choice in recent history.

His platform includes prioritizing race over merit and promoting policies that weaken teachers’ autonomy. This approach will worsen teacher recruitment and shift the focus away from academic achievement.

The Danger of Mo Green’s Push for DEI: A Threat to Our Education System

Since 2020, the push for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) has become ingrained in our education system. The DEI acronym might sound appealing, but it represents affirmative action and racial preferences. This system relies on racial headcounts and labels groups as ‘oppressors’ or ‘oppressed.’ DEI fosters enmity, strife, and resentment, threatening the collapse of public education.

Teachers Are Racists

Mo Green is one of the state’s leading DEI experts.

During a 2017 Duke University BLM and education conference, Green made shocking claims that teachers are racist and responsible for systemic biases against black students. He blames teachers for black student achievement gaps.

In Green's attitude, we see the outcome problem for DEI. Racism and treating teachers as suspects affect teacher recruitment and student performance in public schools.

According to Green, teachers come into the classroom with biases against black students. He claims these biases lead to systemic racism within the education system.

Although Green asserts that he’s not outright calling teachers racists, his implications are clear—he believes the system is flawed because of racist teachers.

Such accusations are divisive and dismiss the hard work and dedication of thousands of NC educators who strive to provide a fair learning environment for all students.

Green’s narrative attacks teachers and undermines their integrity and credibility. By suggesting that educators profile students before they enter the classroom, he places an undue burden on teachers and shifts the focus away from more constructive solutions.

Addressing and eliminating genuine cases of racism and bias is crucial. However, the DEI platform is being used for baseless claims that demoralize the teaching profession.
