The only poll that matters is on Election Day July 11, 2024 Newsletter Hello John, — here’s an important reminder: The only poll that matters is on Election Day. As Chair of the El Dorado County Democratic Party, I want to be honest with you: It’s been a tough two weeks. I am sure you have felt it too. Negative headlines and media coverage focused on Democrats, right as Donald Trump promotes the idea of military tribunals for his enemies and the courts roll out the red carpet for his criminal immunity. It’s tough. And it is pretty easy in these moments to agonize. But statewide, in Congressional District 3, Assemby District 5, and in El Dorado County we are *organizing*. We are on the ground, on the streets, and in the communities of our most competitive districts. We are phone-banking, knocking on doors, talking with voters at events, and so much more. After all, our founders established a system with checks and balances. So, yes, the race for the White House is extremely important. We can’t downplay that. But it is also incredibly important for Democrats to retake the House of Representatives, and that can only happen by flipping the ultra-tight swing seats in California. It's also important that we win local races in El Dorado County and, especially, that we win CD3. So, we can’t lose focus. And I am incredibly encouraged by hearing reports from our organizers and volunteers on the ground. There is amazing energy for flipping seats and ensuring the U.S. House returns to Democratic hands in November and we protect our local school boards from MAGA takeovers. There are two things we can do right now to ensure our future: (1) Step up as a volunteer! Undecided voters are tuned into the election and starting to think about races up and down the ballot. We’d love your help reaching these voters. See below for options for volunteering. (2) Take action and make a donation to support our volunteers and local endorsed candidates. EDC Democratic Party is an all volunteer organization, with no paid staff, so your donations go to support local candidates and local volunteers. Consider making it a recurring donation. More than anything, we want progress on solving these issues, but that is impossible while Republicans hold a majority in Congress. We’re going on tour to change that.” —Sam Schwartz, Executive Director of Tour To Save Democracy Volunteer Webmaster Needed EDC Dems are looking for a new webmaster to maintain and grow our outstanding website. Writing postcards can be very therapeutic during these stressful days leading up to the election. Your handwritten words will inspire people to register to vote and to go vote! Join us in July as we write postcards supporting Democratic candidates and issues. To sign up to write postcards with Democratic Women and for more information: Email – Sandra,
