Changes in health care cost barriers with Medicaid continuous coverage and enhanced premium tax credits (PTCs)
Between 2019 and 2022, the number of nonelderly adults who skipped needed medical care because of the cost fell by nearly 5 million. But policy expirations mean this progress may be difficult to sustain.

Researchers projected 7.2 million more people will receive subsidized Marketplace coverage and 4.0 million fewer people will be uninsured under enhanced PTCs in 2025 than if original PTCs had stayed in place.
