A few weeks ago, I introduced legislation that will transform our Downtown. The Downtown University Attraction and Retention Fund will offer financial incentives to institutions of higher learning that are interested in establishing a presence in key neighborhoods like South of Market, Union Square, and the Financial District, bringing new life and opportunities to these areas.

While my opponents talk, I'm taking bold steps forward.

Public universities often lack the resources of private institutions. If we're serious about bringing academia downtown, we need tangible investment. Look at Phoenix, Arizona: an Arizona State University campus revitalized its Downtown, attracting billions in investments. We can do the same for San Francisco.

As your future mayor, I’ll prioritize revitalizing our downtown—not just with ideas but with REAL action. With this new fund, we can make real progress toward breathing new life into our streets and creating a more vibrant, diverse, and economically thriving Downtown for all of us.
