Hi John,
I’m Trisha Calvarese and I’m writing to you as the newly elected Democratic nominee, running against Lauren Boebert in CO-04.
I got into this race because just before he died last fall, my father – a staunch Republican – told me to get off the sidelines. He died shortly thereafter, within 13 days of my mom dying.
Today, I’m off the sidelines because of them. And because I was able to care for them in their final days, thanks to my union, the AFL-CIO. And because their union pensions and Medicare covered their healthcare costs, they didn’t die leaving behind hundreds of thousands of dollars of medical debt.
I want to make sure that everyone has access to what I had – a union that has their back, Medicare and Medicaid when they need it, high quality and affordable healthcare.
And I promise you this – I am going to fight for you just as hard as I did for my parents.
I know firsthand about the economic and care changes we all face, how critical the care and benefits promised to seniors are to families.
I’m running to stop Lauren Boebert from raising the retirement age or cutting Social Security and Medicare. We will honor veterans where Lauren Boebert let them down. We will restore and expand the reproductive care Lauren Boebert wants to deny.
I was raised in Sterling and Highlands Ranch. I’m proud to be a daughter of this district.
And you have confirmed the values that I was raised on right here in Douglas County: that working people can step up in the face of adversity and prevail, that we can choose hope over fear, community over division, and that together, we can save our democracy and defeat Lauren Boebert once and for all.
If you are ready to join us today in this fight, can I count on you to split a contribution between my campaign and Fight for Progress?
Thank you so much,
Trisha
