Dear Friend,
I appreciate your reading this weekly update and continue to encourage you to forward to your family and friends. As always if you need anything from my office, you can reach me via my Contact page or by calling 202-225-5031.
Washington D.C. Legislative Update
Recently, I have been working on conservative legislation by co-sponsoring bills, supporting strong appropriations bills through my role on the House Appropriations Committee, and voting on important pieces of legislation. Here are some of the highlights I have been a part of.
Recently, I co-sponsored a resolution to celebrate the historic decision made by the U. S. Supreme Court in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision. I am proud that Mississippi led the way in overturning Roe and protecting life.
I am a proud co–sponsor of the No American Land for Communist China Act. We must protect property adjacent to our federal lands, military bases, and farmland from being purchased by the CCP.
I co-sponsored a bill to stop the federal government from penalizing or discriminating against a healthcare provider because the provider does not participate in performing abortions.
I also spoke on an amendment during an Appropriations Committee markup that would protect pro-life policies. You can watch my remarks here.
I released a statement on some of our recent Fiscal Year 2025 Appropriations bills. You can catch that here.
Recently, I attended a hearing on AI and National Security. Be sure to check that out here.
I am working hard every day for the people of the Third District of Mississippi, and I am thankful to serve my state and my country here in Washington, D.C.
Mississippi is Heading to the Olympics
I am proud of all our athletes across the state who are headed to the Olympics. Be sure to check out who is competing from our state and cheer them on.
FEMA Assistance
Mississippi residents impacted by the April 8-11 storms in Hancock, Hinds, Humphreys, Madison, Neshoba, and Scott counties can now apply for FEMA Individual Assistance either online, by phone, or on the FEMA app. Make sure to have important information available to start the process. See the graphics below for more information.
To find the location of all disaster recovery centers, visit fema.gov/drc. Homeowners and renters can visit any center for help. It is not necessary to visit a center to apply for assistance. Survivors can apply for FEMA assistance by going online to DisasterAssistance.gov, downloading the FEMA mobile app or calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. If you use video relay service, captioned telephone service or others, give FEMA your number for that service. For the latest information on recovery from the April tornadoes, visit msema.org and www.fema.gov/disaster/4790. On X/Twitter follow MEMA @MSEMA and FEMA Region 4 @femaregion4.”
