Missouri Net News [link removed] Bishop Farr Reassigned to Missouri
The [link removed] South Central Jurisdiction (SCJ) of The United Methodist Church reassigned Bishop Bob Farr to the Missouri Episcopal Area today. Bishop Farr was first elected and assigned to Missouri in 2016. Bishops typically serve an area for two, four-year terms but may serve up to three, four-year terms before moving or retiring. Bishop Farr anticipates retiring Aug. 31, 2028.
“There is no place I’d rather be,” Bishop Farr said. “Susan and I are thrilled to be reassigned to Missouri for our final four years of active ministry.”
Episcopal assignments begin on Sept. 1 and continue, presumably, until the SCJ gathers again in 2028. The assignments announced this afternoon at the conclusion of the jurisdictional conference are as follows:
Bishop Cynthia Harvey: Texas Annual Conference and Rio Texas Annual Conference
Bishop Robert Farr: Missouri Annual Conference
Bishop Laura Merrill: Arkansas Annual Conference, Oklahoma Annual Conference and Oklahoma Indian Missionary Annual Conference
Bishop Ruben Saenz: Horizon Texas Annual Conference
Bishop Dee Williamston: Louisiana Annual Conference
Bishop David Wilson: Great Plains Annual Conference
The New Mexico Annual Conference will remain open pending a potential assignment of a bishop from another jurisdiction.
The South Central Jurisdiction will continue to meet through Friday at lunchtime. The agenda is available at [link removed] www.scjumc.org/scjc2024agenda, and the livestream is available [link removed] at this link.
