Building a Culture of Life

Dear John,

Our nation, especially our first responders and health care workers, is going to extraordinary lengths to preserve lives during this pandemic. And every day there are new stories of churches and ordinary Americans finding creative ways to help one another and care for their at-risk neighbors.

While FRC continues to spotlight these inspiring stories, I can't help but be astonished that this same value for life--this commitment to defending human dignity--is so often withheld from the most vulnerable among us: babies in the womb.

Just two short months ago, 41 members of the U.S. Senate voted to block the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act that would have ensured newborn babies who survive an abortion attempt receive medical care. Instead, 41 senators chose infanticide!

With more than 60 million defenseless lives lost since 1973, it's horrific to think our modern-day society--boasting a myriad of scientific advances that can save a baby's life in the womb--openly applauds killing these unborn, and now born, children.

There's been a cultural shift in abortion rhetoric from "safe, legal, and rare" to celebrities and media campaigns calling on women to "shout your abortion."

Hollywood has long supported abortion in the shadows, but that allegiance is now on full display. We are living in dark times when a pregnant Michelle Williams accepts a Golden Globe award and credits her success as an actress to a past abortion--to applause from the audience.

While this brokenness and deception is heartbreaking, hear me loud and clear when I say: Be Encouraged!

I believe we are so close to becoming a nation where life at all stages is treated as precious. It is encouraging to witness a growing momentum highlighting and protecting the sanctity of life.

But we cannot take the momentum for granted, thinking that this great evil of abortion will correct itself. We must stand firm and keep fighting!

Will you join the mission today with a generous financial gift and stand with FRC to protect the sanctity of life? We know times are uncertain with our nation's ongoing crisis. Your situation may require your gift to be smaller than usual, but no contribution is insignificant. The pro-abortion lobby and its activists have awakened the consciences of many in this nation who once sat on the sidelines. Now believers of all ages have been galvanized to find their voice and take action.

Here are just a few examples:

  • An Indiana teenager raised $10,000 by mowing lawns and scrapping metal in order to purchase a Safe Haven Baby Box. Less than a year later, one newborn girl was recently placed there by a distressed parent, saving the life of that infant.
  • Over 250,000 pro-life activists--predominantly youth--from all across the nation filled the National Mall in January at the 47th annual March for Life.
  • In a historic moment, President Trump became the first sitting president to attend and address the March for Life.
  • Courageous legislators in multiple states are responding to the radical policies of states like New York and Illinois, taking a stand to pass bills that protect life.
  • And thousands have joined FRC's End Birth Day Abortion campaign to send newborn baby hats to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) with the message that all babies deserve to be protected through all nine months of pregnancy and after birth.

These tens of thousands of hats are a symbol of our commitment to protect life--both born and unborn. But even after they are delivered to the House Speaker's office, our work will not be done.

At Family Research Council, we are dedicated to accelerating the momentum for life.

Our FRC experts will continue to testify at the state and federal levels, informing policymakers on critical issues relating to the protection of human life.

Through our nationwide pastors' network, we will equip more pastors to preach on the biblical principle that all life is created by God, and to support families in need in their congregations.

We will continue to advocate on behalf of pregnancy resource centers that are often maligned and misrepresented by the Left, or as in some states like Connecticut, are under threat of being shut down entirely.

Will you support FRC's ongoing efforts to build a culture of life and be a voice for the voiceless? Every dollar makes a difference. Let's unite our voices to protect life!

When President Donald Trump declared January 22nd to be National Sanctity of Human Life Day, he spoke directly to the American people in his proclamation:

"I call on the American people to continue to care for women in unexpected pregnancies and to support adoption and foster care in a more meaningful way, so every child can have a loving home. And finally, I ask every citizen of this great nation to listen to the sound of silence caused by a generation lost to us, and then to raise their voices for all affected by abortion, both seen and unseen."

Together, we can continue changing hearts and minds--whether that's a mother facing an unplanned pregnancy or a policymaker who can affect countless lives.

Let's break the deafening silence with our united voices, and "speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves." (Proverbs 31:8, NIV)

Thank you for standing with FRC. We can sustain and advance the pro-life momentum because of your prayers and financial support. Let's keep marching!
