Hi james,
History has been made — and not in the good way. Hurricane Beryl has become the first Category 5 hurricane in recorded history this early in the year, and its impact has been devastating.
The city of Houston has flooded. Eight people are dead. 121 counties have suffered damage from the storm. Millions of Texans are without power with no idea when it might be restored as the temperatures soar in yet another record-breaking heatwave.
None of that seems too concerning to GOP Governor Greg Abbott, who immediately left for a trip to Asia, or Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who has been "slow" to respond to the Biden administration's disaster declaration and is needlessly delaying the delivery of aid. The storm hit on Monday morning, and it wasn't until Tuesday afternoon that the Biden team was able to finally reach Patrick.
There’s no more denying that climate change is here — and that’s why it’s more important than ever that we elect climate champions up and down the ballot and pass a green agenda before things get worse.

Last year, the US suffered 22 climate disasters that caused a staggering $92 BILLION in damage and killed nearly 500 people. Over the last seven years, 137 separate billion-dollar disasters have killed at least 5,500 people and cost greater than $1 trillion in damage, and it’s only going to get worse unless we take decisive action ASAP!
We can’t afford to have more Greg Abbotts or Ted Cruzs in office. These right-wing extremists are have fought against green energy their entire careers and then flee their own states when the consequences come home to roost. It’s time for a change. Will you pledge to vote for climate champions in November and help ensure we have a livable planet for future generations?
