A new book from the CSE team, out September 24

[link removed]

John,

As cruel legislation targeting transgender youth has surged across the South, our team at the Campaign for Southern Equality has been at the frontlines of the crisis, offering direct support, accurate information, and practical solutions when it comes to accessing gender-affirming care or staying safe in school. It's been a relentless period, and we've met so many trans youth and the people who love them, listening to their stories and understanding how they're grappling with these challenges – and finding joy wherever they can.

Now, it's time to share these stories with all of you. As a thank you for being one of our closest supporters, we want you to be the first to know: the CSE team wrote a book – and it's coming out this fall!

Trans Kids, Our Kids: Stories and Resources from the Frontlines of the Movement for Transgender Youth will be published by Ig Publishing on September 24, 2024, and it's now available to pre-order. Click here to learn more and pre-order your copy. ([link removed])

Across 10 chapters, you will meet more than a diverse array of voices, including transgender youth, their parents, and the medical providers, advocates, and faith leaders who are leading the fight against discriminatory legislation. These stories – sometimes inspiring, sometimes heart-breaking – break through the political static of the current crisis and focus on how real people are navigating this challenging time. The book also features resources and concrete steps for making sure everyone can access the care they deserve.

The book uses a narrative approach to capture how folks all across the country are meeting the moment to support, protect, and live in solidarity with transgender youth and their families. You'll see how families are going to extreme and heroic lengths to access healthcare, how faith communities are uniting to support trans youth, and how medical providers are doing everything they can to uphold their oaths to provide care.

Trans Kids, Our Kids is available for preorder now and will hit bookshelves on September 24. Snag your copy today. ([link removed])

We're so grateful to the incredible folks who shared their stories with us, and we know you will be as moved and inspired as we have been.

This book has truly been a full team effort across our staff, from the writing to the cover design by Liz Williams to brainstorming sessions and more. The fact that our staff could do this, alongside our programming, is a testament not only to how much we believe in this work, but also to the support you give us each day.

All royalties from book sales will go directly to CSE's Southern Trans Youth Emergency Project.

With gratitude,
Alexis Stratton (they/them) and Adam Polaski (he/him)

P.S. Stay tuned – this summer we'll be announcing the dates and locations of a book tour where we'll be joined by community partners to share stories from Trans Kids, Our Kids and ways to join the movement to support and protect trans youth.
