Childhood hunger is prevalent in the United States, especially during
the summer months.
1 in 5 kids lives with hunger, and only 13% of children who rely on
free or reduced-price school meals have access to them when school is
out for the summer. This means the summer hunger crisis impacts every
corner of our country. Will you make a gift to help hungry kids who
are suffering right now, John?

It's especially heartbreaking to know that this crisis is
completely avoidable - but this also means that, together, we
can end it.
Fortunately, Congress has approved legislation that makes it easier
for families in rural areas to access meals in the summer and expands
a summer-long grocery benefit for kids. These changes have mobilized
us more than ever to make a significant impact. With your support,
we've provided millions of dollars to help schools and community
organizations purchase critical equipment and hire staff to take
advantage of the new rules this summer.
We're also working hard to inform more families about summer
meals and benefits. Over 1,000 people visited our free meals finder
map every day of the summer last year, and our texting services
helped families find meals in their communities over 100,000 times.
This summer, celebrities like Al Roker, Chef Lorena Garcia and
renowned Mexican actor Eugenio Derbez are helping us reach even more
families through social media, traditional media and public service
announcements in both English and Spanish.
All the tools are in place for us to make a major impact toward ending
childhood hunger this summer. That's why we've set an
ambitious goal to raise $1 million to support our current efforts that
could help provide 10 MILLION MEALS for hungry kids - but we can
only reach this goal with the dedicated support of compassionate
people like you.
