Last month, the Office of the Comptroller released the Maryland Procurement Playbook!
Government procurement means using taxpayer dollars to buy and deliver goods for the public's benefit. To better understand how much we’re spending, who is getting our money, and what we’re spending it on, my team and I collaborated with state agencies and the Nowak Metro Finance Lab at Drexel University to study our procurement economy.
This playbook was the first of its kind and gives us valuable takeaways on how we can support local businesses, especially minority and women-owned businesses, through grants, a procurement office, and networking to capture more economic activity and ensure taxpayer value.

I also wrote an op-ed on the playbook with Study Director Bruce Katz for the Baltimore Business Journal, which you can click below to read!
