John, if there’s one thing you need to know as we get closer to November, it’s this: Every local election matters.

One of my first jobs out of law school was with the Children’s Defense Fund, where I was tasked with going door-to-door and gathering stories about the lack of schooling for children with disabilities. The testimonies from these families contributed directly to the passage of historic legislation that required the state to provide quality education for students with disabilities.

It matters who wins down-ballot races, John. Time and time again, I’ve seen the immense impact that city council, state legislators or school board members have on our democracy. And right now, at every single level, no matter how small a race may seem, Democrats are taking on the worst of the GOP’s extremism to protect our democracy.

That’s why I’m asking you to support Run for Something, a remarkable organization that is committed to recruiting, training and electing diverse, young progressives to public office across the country.

Run for Something knows a thing or two about stopping right-wing extremists dead in their tracks. They’re working hard to elect more young Democrats and build our bench of legislators – but they can’t do it without your immediate support. That’s why I’m asking you personally, John: Please, chip in $5 or more to Run for Something now so that Democrats can succeed this November and beyond.

As we approach this critical political moment, your support for Run for Something is more important than ever. With Donald Trump and his MAGA-backed supporters on the ballot at every level this November, there’s simply too much on the line.

We’ve seen how extremist moves like the overturning of Roe and the gutting of the Voting Rights Act are rapidly being reproduced at the state and local level while Congress remains at a standstill. That’s why we desperately need young progressives to have a seat at the table.

Run for Something is dedicated to making that happen and cultivating more diverse leadership on school boards, in state houses and more. By building a more representative Democratic party down the ballot, we can give voters the drive they need to turn out at the top of the ticket this November, defeat extremists and protect our democracy.

That’s why your support today is essential as Run for Something works to get more young progressives elected across the country. Please, John:

Join me in supporting the next generation of young progressive candidates by chipping in $5 or more today to support Run for Something’s mission.

Thank you – and onward!
