Jaymes has a deep passion for our mission to end suicide among LGBTQ+ young people and a résumé that is full of uniquely fitting leadership experience. Their expertise blends nonprofit and corporate competencies, spanning business and community leadership, LGBTQ+ advocacy and coalition building, fundraising strategy and innovation, large budget oversight and financial acumen, call center operations and user experience, and more.
They also bring compelling lived experience to Trevor, as a Black, nonbinary leader who grew up in South Texas. Most recently, Jaymes was the President & CEO of Family Equality, a national organization that works to ensure everyone has the freedom to find, form, and sustain their families by advancing LGBTQ+ equality through advocacy, support, storytelling, and education. Prior to leading Family Equality, Jaymes had a seasoned career in the corporate sector, where they held a variety of senior leadership roles at major companies – most recently at Charles Schwab.
As we embark on this exciting leadership transition at our organization, we extend a heartfelt thanks to our founder, Peggy Rajski (she/her), for stepping in as Interim CEO during a period of significant change at Trevor. Peggy will temporarily step into the role of Special Advisor to the CEO to ensure a smooth transition process before returning to her previous seat on our board.
It’s no secret that this is a historically challenging time for our work and for the LGBTQ+ young people we serve. But in the face of these challenges, we are more than confident that Jaymes will lead us into a successful next chapter for Trevor. With Jaymes’ leadership, we look forward to continuing the life-saving work we’ve been doing for more than 26 years – and to supporting and protecting LGBTQ+ young people for generations to come.
Thank you for your continued support – and I can’t wait for you to get to know more about Jaymes as they step into the role of CEO.
With gratitude,
Julian J. Moore
