For Advocates Trafficking & MMIP Virtual Training On August 8th, 2024, CSVANW will be hosting a training for victim advocates, service providers, and community members on the dynamic intersections of Trafficking and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons (MMIP) on tribal land in New Mexico. This training is intended to build the capacity for advocates to respond to cases of trafficking and MMIP in tribal communities, and to expand their understanding of the two as systematic issues. The material will cover why MMIP and Trafficking are significant issues in New Mexico, how trafficking victims are at higher risk for becoming victims of MMIP, why their intersections are important to service providers and advocates, and how responders can improve how they interact with these cases within tribal communities.
