Dear Friend, real quick — our state legislature still hasn't passed the Louisiana Emergency Voting Plan. But you can help.

As New Orleans legislator Aimee Adatto Freeman highlighted in The Advocate on Sunday, more than 1,000 Louisianians have fallen victim to COVID-19, and almost 24,000 total have tested positive for the virus. Our healthcare providers and first responders are working tirelessly to flatten this curve. We have to continue to do our part by staying home and social distancing, but — the upcoming July 11 election is too important to sit out. We must make small, safe changes to allow every voter in New Orleans the right to have their voices heard.

We need your help — will you contact your senators and representatives today and tell them that you want them to protect your health, keep our poll workers safe, and ensure that your vote is counted by passing the Emergency Voting Plan? Click here and reach out to them now.

In the midst of this global health pandemic that has hit Louisiana particularly so hard, this would protect our health and democracy. But, Republican lawmakers have continuously blocked this essential legislation.

This is unacceptable — these upcoming elections are too important to sit out, but no one should have to risk their life to vote.
