Hi John,

NPH has a big, bold vision for 2024, and I’m delighted to share the latest exciting news that shows we're on our way to achieving it.

NPH has been working closely with coalition partners to put forth a game-changing, transformative initiative to set the voting threshold for affordable housing measures at 55% And I am thrilled to share that we’ve succeeded! 🎉

This policy will appear as Proposition 5 on the statewide ballot in November 2024, a Constitutional Amendment that makes it easier to pass local affordable housing bonds, a major structural change that unlocks new funding streams forever.

🤩 Prop 5: A Game Changer! I can’t overstate what Prop 5 would mean for communities throughout California: local governments and voters could have the power to create the affordable housing that our neighbors want and need. By changing outdated rules in the state constitution, a whole world of possibility opens for California, including billions for:

✅ Affordable new housing for low- and middle-income families, veterans and seniors
✅ First-time homebuyer assistance
✅ Permanent supportive housing with services for people experiencing homelessness
✅ Improvements to roads and highways
✅ Public transit, like buses and commuter trains
✅ Fire stations and critical emergency services

🌄 Our Vision Ahead This win represents a HUGE step toward our vision of a future where everyone has a place to call home. Prop 5 is an incredible opportunity to deliver major resources that allow us to make immediate investments in our communities as well as set the stage for our next big victories.

👏 Thank You! We give great thanks to our members and partners who’ve worked alongside us throughout these efforts. We could not have accomplished this without you!
