I Will Run For Them 5K Saturday, October 19th, 2024 Indian Pueblo Cultural Center - The Avanyu Plaza On 12th Street Just North Of I-40 Albuquerque, NM We are proud to share with you all that registration is now OPEN for our annual I Will Run for Them5K Run/Walk & 1K Kid awareness run. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) and our annual I Will Run for Them 5K Run awareness run honors the resilience, strength and spirit of our Native relatives impacted by domestic violence. We create space to honor survivors, cycle-breakers and our relatives who we have lost to violence. REGISTER MMIWR Healing Retreat July 13, 2024 09: 30 AM - 03: 00 PM On July 13th, 2024, CSVANW will be hosting an MMIWR healing retreat in Farmington, NM for impacted families of the MMIWR crisis. The retreat serves to provide a safe space for families to connect with themselves, take part in restorative activities, and express their artistic skills. The ultimate objective of the event is to leave families feeling supported, loved, and in whatever small way it may look like, healed. The retreat is only open to those who are directly impacted, i.e. who has a relative that has been a victim of MMIWR. Register This training will provide participants with a new understanding of trafficking and the MMIP crisis, primarily how they operate as systemic issues in tribal communities. Advocates and service providers will learn how Trafficking and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons crisis intersect as reflections of colonial and socioeconomic oppression, how state and community responses to these crises can be improved/expanded, and how tribal communities are uniquely affected. This training is intended to build the capacity for victim advocates, service providers, and community members to respond to cases of trafficking and MMIP in a sensitive, culturally appropriate way, while understanding the ways trafficking and MMIP intersect as systematic issues. The material will cover why MMIP and Trafficking are significant issues in New Mexico, how trafficking victims are at higher risk for becoming victims of MMIP, why their intersections are important to service providers and advocates, and how responders can improve how they interact with these cases within tribal communities. Visit our Website The Sexual Violence Project Coordinator is responsible for the strategic coordination of the Coalition’s overall sexual violence project initiatives (training, education, advocacy, and prevention). Plans, implements, and evaluates the Coalition’s sexual violence projects in collaboration with tribal sexual assault programs and agencies across our service area. Coordinate project efforts for community-based education to service providers who work with Native survivors of sexual violence. Identifies the Coalition’s project priorities to build broader community awareness about sexual violence. Works closely with Coalition stakeholders and partners to identify issues, priorities, and develop strategies and community-based responses to sexual violence. This is an exempt, salaried position.
