Today marks the 75th anniversary of the world’s most successful political and military alliance — the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, better known as NATO.
Seventy-five years after its creation, NATO is stronger than ever, thanks in part to my bipartisan legislation to prevent any U.S. President from unilaterally withdrawing from this critical alliance.
But its future isn’t guaranteed: Donald Trump recently bragged about telling a European leader that America wouldn’t come to Europe’s aid if it were attacked by Russia.
“By the way, NATO is dead,” Trump said. “I would encourage them to do whatever the hell they want.”

I’ve got news for Donald Trump: NATO is here to stay. And with a powerful Democratic majority in the U.S. Senate, Trump (or any U.S. President) won’t have a choice of whether or not to stay in this key alliance.
On this 75th anniversary, we need to send a message that pro-Putin, anti-NATO comments like these can’t be allowed from someone who wants to be President of the United States.
Will you help me send that message by pitching in $25 or more today? |
