Gary Fletcher, born in Amarillo, Texas, served in the Vietnam War, providing lifesaving medical care to countless men who otherwise would not have returned home. His bravery and sacrifice earned him numerous medals for his service to our country.
Afterward, he graduated from West Texas State University with a BBA in Finance. He worked as a banker for 34 years and owned the Salt Fork Ranch in Clarendon, Texas, for 45 years. Fletcher and his family competed in team penning, and he served as president of the United States Team Penning Association. A dedicated community volunteer, he supported organizations like United Way and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He was also a dedicated friend to my family and to everybody who knew him in the Panhandle. There is nobody more worthy of this honor!
My wonderful wife, Jane, gave remarks on the remarkable life that Gary Fletcher lived. Thank you to all who helped make this day happen. Pictures of the day are below.
