Nonbinary Awareness Week 2024

Every year, the week leading up to International Nonbinary People’s Day (July 14th) is Nonbinary Awareness Week. Amidst the current climate of hate towards trans and nonbinary people, awareness is all the more important when it comes to combatting the misinformation and disinformation that paint gender diverse people as undeserving of basic human rights such as access to healthcare, employment, and even the right to choose when to come out.

This Nonbinary Awareness Week, we ask everyone – allies and community members alike, totake some time to reflect, learn more about the issues that nonbinary people face, and to raise your voice against injusticetowards nonbinary people in all its forms.

Visit our Nonbinary Awareness Week 2024 < [link removed] > webpage for resources and information to help you create positive change for nonbinary people.

Standing up for 2SLGBTQI students: Court decision finds that the Charter of Rights and Freedoms applies to Ontario school boards

A recent decision from the Supreme Court of Canada aligns with Egale Canada’s position that students should benefit from protections at school under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms (the Charter).

At a moment where we are seeing premiers playing politics with the lives of gender diverse students, it is critical to take every action possible to protect the safety and well-being of 2SLGBTQI young people. To learn more about Egale’s intervention in this case, visit our webpage for York Region District School Board v.
