Hi there,
The heat aside, the DMV is so glorious in the summer. I've always loved how everything slows down a little bit in July and August. Walking around, you can feel (and sometimes see) that the city is on vacation, and for those of us that stick around, we get the magic of DC summer nights all to ourselves.
Just because we're taking it easy doesn't mean there's also not a lot going on. Read on to learn more about upcoming events and ways to get involved this month, including our in-person ANC training, and this summer's planners of color happy hour.
Upcoming Events
GGWash 2024 Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner candidate training (in-person) [[link removed]]
Sunday, July 14, 3:00pm-5:00pm
Grand Duchess, 2337 18th St NW, Washington, DC
In November 2024, voters in Washington, DC, will choose their most immediate elected officials: Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners. ANC seats are unpaid, part-time, nonpartisan, advisory roles, and are the official voice of their neighborhoods. Attend GGWash's in-person ANC candidate training at Grand Duchess! This training will cover the same material as the virtual one, but with the added opportunity to socialize with neighbors. If you can't make it, check out the recording [[link removed]] of our virtual training.
