- Protect your property from more damage. Cover broken windows and holes.
- Write down the names of everyone you talk to.
- Be ready to answer questions about the damage.
- Make a list of damaged property. Take pictures and video. Don't throw anything away.
- Be present when the insurance company inspects your damaged property.
- Ask about additional living expenses. It covers certain costs if you can’t stay in your house during repairs.
