John, I want to be frank; at its core, last week's Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity is deeply and inherently un-American.

I am deeply disappointed that the Court has decided that a former president is entitled to criminal immunity for official acts — creating the position of king in all but name.

This ruling violates the fundamental constitutional principle that no one is above the law. It will only serve to embolden those who seek to use the office of the presidency to undermine our democratic system, the rule of law, and the peaceful transition of power.

While I am glad that President Biden unequivocally believes that no person is above the law – even presidents – this SCOTUS decision is a danger to our democracy. If you agree with me that presidential power must be checked, add your name to this petition >> [link removed]
