Never before in our history have we had a Supreme Court so fully captured by wealthy far-right interests as the current Court.

Investigative reporting from ProPublica has exposed that at least two justices have accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in gifts from billionaires. Justice Alito was caught displaying a symbol of the January 6th insurrection and the “Stop the Steal” movement outside his house after the 2020 election. Then an “Appeal to Heaven” flag, a symbol of Christian nationalism, was spotted flying outside another one of Alito’s homes in 2023.

The blatant corruption and lack of ethical standards can be directly linked to Court decisions that have disproportionately harmed vulnerable communities.

SCOTUS has overturned a 50-year precedent establishing the right to choose, opened the door to racial and LGBTQ+ discrimination, favored corporate interests over those of the public, and twisted freedom of religion into a license for Christian nationalists to discriminate against disfavored minorities.

By failing to use its oversight power to hold Supreme Court Justices accountable, Congress is allowing the Supreme Court and its partisan allies to subvert our democracy.

Congress must:

Hold public hearings to expose corruption at the Supreme Court;
Subpoena right-wing billionaire Harlan Crow and enforce the existing subpoena against Leonard Leo of the Federalist Society.
Subpoena Justice Alito and his wife, Martha-Ann Alito;
Subpoena Chief Justice Roberts regarding his handling of the insurrectionist flag incident based on reports that the Supreme Court was aware of it at the time that it happened; and
Expose the conflict of interest in cases related to the January 6th insurrection.
