Leo was listed on Craigslist for $15. Tiny and dying, he was left in a waste-filled trailer with three other male calves deemed “surplus” because they couldn’t make milk.

John, other calves had suffered at the dairy farm where Leo was born. Sadly, 12 died within a week of their rescue by well-intentioned people who purchased them.
The rescuers alerted animal control officers, but for the three other calves found by Leo’s side, help came too late. Thankfully, Leo lives on, and he’s grown into a healthy and strong steer.
Once neglected, Leo has all the food, care, shelter, and companionship he needs at Farm Sanctuary, thanks to your vital support. His caregivers describe him as a sweetheart and a true friend to all in his herd. He loves to play, but he’s a pretty chill guy who enjoys lounging in the sunshine and quietly roaming the pasture with friends.
