Hi John,

Did you miss our last webinar, “Attacks on Later Abortion”? No worries, there's still time to educate yourself about how the anti-abortion movement targets abortions later in pregnancy, which are a vital form of reproductive health care. Even states that protect abortion access do not always ensure access to these essential services which is why protecting abortions later in pregnancy should be one of our top priorities.

Student Organizing is Essential

Student organizing is a crucial component of our movement. Whether it's students nationwide working to increase access to emergency contraception and medication abortion on their campuses, or young people sharing impactful testimonials about the importance of expanding access to birth control, our movement thrives on the involvement of youth. Learn more about student organizing campaigns here.

Self-Care

Self-care is an intentional practice that roots us in the present despite the oppression we may face. Regular self-care is essential for sustainable and effective activism.

Here are our self-care tips for July:

  1. Work up a sweat! One of the great things about summer is you can do this on a casual walk or on many days, just sitting still outdoors. As much as we all complain about the heat – I know I do! – being outside in the summer, breathing sticky hot air alongside your fellow humans has its benefits. Just grab a cold drink and let someone else manage the grilling. – Shireen, Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff
  2. Make yourself a sweet treat! Whether it's a mug cake or an elaborate croissant recipe, baking is always one of my favorite self-care activities. The best part of this activity is that you have some yummy treats to enjoy for days after. My favorite recipe as of late is
CafeHailee's brown butter rosemary cookies! – Stephanie, Collective Rising Fellow
  3. Don't be afraid to be 'bad' at something. It's only natural to want to do things you are good at. But it's also okay to do things that you are 'bad' at simply because you like them! I recently started ballet classes as an adult and as someone with zero dance experience I am definitely 'bad' but I'm having so much fun learning. Give yourself permission to do things you want just because you're having fun! – Liz, Senior Development and Operations Manager

See you next month!
