Please join us in supporting new legislation strengthening and standardizing legal protections for immigrant families and millions of other renters nationwide. The Tenants Bill of Rights, was created by our partners at the National Low Income Housing Coalition and the National Housing Law Project, along with the Tenant Union Federation, and informed by our federal advocacy team. The bill includes protections to our work:
- Bars discrimination based on a renter’s immigration status
- Strengthens protections against landlord harassment, including inquiries about or disclosure of a renter’s immigration status
-
Authorizes increased funding for language access and other fair housing enforcement priorities
- Requires landlords to prioritize marketing rental homes to low-income and marginalized tenants
Generating organizational support for these reforms is critical to secure support in Congress. Please consider endorsing the Tenants Bill of Rights today. |
