Hey there, team!

It’s Angela Alsobrooks, the Democratic nominee for Senate here in
Maryland.

Over the next few months I’m going to be asking a lot of this team and I
think it’s only fair I introduce myself and tell you a bit more about what
got me into this race in the first place.

But, if you don’t have time right now, just know how much I appreciate you
opening this email and supporting my campaign. Every dollar and all of the
energy you have given our campaign truly makes a difference. [ [link removed] ]So, before
I give you my backstory, would you be able to pitch in just $5 to give my
campaign a boost this month?

This Senate campaign has me thinking back all the way to 1986, when I won
my first-ever election for student government treasurer.

I was a freshman in high school then, and I set a goal: Become the student
body president by senior year.

And I did it – because I chose not to waste my time dreaming about the
next rung up on the ladder. What I did was dive into my role, find
problems that needed solutions, and do the best job I possibly could. That
was enough, and by my senior year, I was student body president!

The next time I ran for office was when my daughter Alex was six. A friend
of mine was visiting, and I told her I wouldn’t let Alex play in the yard
unless I was keeping an eye on her. The neighborhood just didn’t feel
safe.

She said, “Angela, unless you plan to change it, we shouldn’t have this
discussion again.”

I decided to run for state’s attorney. With the love and support of my
community, I was elected to my first term in 2010 and re-elected in 2014.

I repaid that support with action. Over two terms, my office implemented
restorative justice policies that reduced crime rates, decreased
recidivism, and helped former inmates build productive lives after
release.

Together, we helped build the kind of community I wanted for Alex: A safe,
peaceful place to live, work, and play.

After eight years as a state's attorney, I understood the causes of crime
well – but I didn’t have the tools to address the problems that led people
to the courtroom in the first place. But the County Executive’s office
did.

That’s when I jumped into my toughest race yet, and I’m so fortunate that
this community showed up for me once again.

My administration shows up for the people of Prince George’s every day.
We’ve incentivized business development, built a treatment center to
address mental illness and addiction, expanded opportunities for students,
and so much more.

In May, I officially became the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate in
Maryland!

Marylanders deserve practical, comprehensive policies to break down
barriers today and help us thrive tomorrow. I learned what that takes as
County Executive, and I’m committed to doing better and going farther in
the U.S. Senate.

I don’t want to keep you too long, so I just have one last request: Every
campaign takes a village, and this one is absolutely no exception. [ [link removed] ]Can
I count on you to chip in just $5 to our groundbreaking campaign for the
U.S. Senate to build lasting progress for Maryland?

If you’ve saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your
donation will go through immediately.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I can’t wait to see where this
journey takes us.

With love and gratitude,

Angela Alsobrooks
