Since Day One of this coronavirus pandemic, there has been one steady, guiding leader providing Mississippians and the American people with information and medical guidance, and that person is Dr. Anthony Fauci.
As the longtime director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and a trusted public health expert, Dr. Fauci is arguably the most reasonable, rational, and competent member of the White House’s coronavirus task force.
He’s worked with presidents on both sides of the aisle for years, truly putting people’s health ahead of any partisan politics.
Although he has to walk a fine line with President Trump in order to continue to serve the public, Dr. Fauci has been clear that the administration’s slow response to COVID-19 has been detrimental. In a CNN interview with Jake Tapper on April 12, Dr. Fauci said that a faster response to the virus could “obviously” have saved lives.
It’s become obvious that the president didn’t like that, retweeting hashtags and calls to #FireFauci on Twitter. And it’s no secret that the president is swift to cut ties with anyone who tells the truth or critiques his performance as president. Dr. Fauci’s job may be in serious jeopardy.
Dr. Fauci is saving lives, and we must protect him at all costs. If you agree, add your name to our petition demanding Trump not fire Fauci from the White House coronavirus task force. [[link removed]]
