Led by Trump, 2024 GOP Platform Slashes Decades of Pro-Life Priorities |
by Suzanne Bowdey |
Most delegates had no idea what they were walking into Monday morning when the Republican platform committee finally got underway in Milwaukee. Heading into this week, the atmosphere was already emotionally charged, especially after weeks of speculation that the Trump team was planning to hijack the process and radically revamp the 60 pages of principles the party had ratified eight years before - all behind closed doors. "I've been involved in this nearly 20 years," Family Research Council Action Chairman Tony Perkins said. And the amount of secrecy is "unprecedented." |

Parties Vote with Their Platform 82% of the Time: Expert |
by Joshua Arnold |
With the Republican National Convention scheduled for next week, delegates on the platform committee met ahead of time to decide the party platform the GOP will carry into the 2024 election. The platform adopted by the committee watered down the platform's stance on key issues such as protecting unborn life, but such a move could spell trouble for a party whose post-Roe electoral victories have usually capitalized on a wave of pro-life momentum. |

Republican VP Hopefuls Back Off Pro-Life Principles |
by S.A. McCarthy |
A top Republican vice presidential contender is following former President Donald Trump's lead and backing off pro-life protections and principles. On Sunday, Senator J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) was asked by Kristen Welker on NBC's "Meet the Press" about the Heritage Foundation's proposed Project 2025, a conservative blueprint for a second Trump term. Welker noted that one of the Project 2025 agenda items is "reversing approval of the abortion pill mifepristone, but Donald Trump says he supports access to that pill, actually." She asked Vance, a Catholic, if he also supports "access to abortion medication," and the senator replied that he does. |

Are Publishing Giants Pulling Back from Pushing LGBT Material? |
by Sarah Holliday |
In June, Scholastic, the world's largest children's book publishing company, put their push for LGBT ideology front and center when they released their 2024 guide to their "Read with Pride" initiative. As reported by The Washington Stand, the guide was to be a "resource" for "supporting LGBTQIA+ youth" by promoting books with radical ideological themes, including transgenderism and taking relationships "to the next level" with sexual intercourse. It also had a glossary of definitions for LGBT terminology such as "agender," "allocishet," and "genderfluid." And yet, despite their unapologetic stance on this agenda, recent developments have caused some to wonder if the company has begun to pull back. |

Moderates Side with Far-Left to Halt Conservative Victory in France |
by S.A. McCarthy |
Conservatives in France suffered defeat in the final round of national elections, despite winning the highest percentage of the popular vote. In last week's first round of voting, the conservative National Rally (RN) party led the far-left New Popular Front (NFP) and the establishment moderates Ensemble by wide margins, prompting the NFP and Ensemble to form a tacit alliance. On Sunday, that alliance paid off. NFP took a total of over 180 seats; although far from a majority (289 out of 577 seats), it is the most seats garnered by any party or coalition this week. Ensemble, the coalition led by left-of-center French president Emmanuel Macron, placed second with nearly 170 seats, and RN was relegated to third place with 143 seats. |

As Border Crisis Continues, Trump Puts Illegal Immigration at the Top of RNC's New Platform |
by Sarah Holliday |
It doesn't take much to see how the border crisis has grown preposterously out of control. Considering this, perhaps it's not so surprising that sealing the border and commencing a mass deportation are the top two priorities of former President Donald Trump's new platform. |
