Mitch McConnell: “If I'm still the majority leader of the Senate, think of me as the 'Grim Reaper.' None of that stuff is going to pass – none of it.”
Hello,
In just a moment, we’re going to ask you to make a donation to help Amy McGrath defeat Mitch McConnell when he’s up for reelection this November. But before we do, please allow us a minute to explain why your gift today is critically important – no matter how far away Election Day might still feel.
In a stunning display of irony and hypocrisy, Mitch McConnell has made it crystal clear: If he stays in control of the Senate past 2020, Mitch says he’s not going to allow Democrats to do or pass anything. Nothing. Zilch. Nada.
Just weeks ago, Mitch was calling for “bipartisanship” and complaining about Democrats’ “obstruction,” but now he’s suddenly singing a different tune.
This is straight out of McConnell’s playbook: When Republicans are in power, he rams everything through; and when Democrats are in control, Mitch stops at nothing to block and obstruct. Remember when he said in 2010 that his single greatest priority was to make President Obama a one-term president? Remember when he refused to release Mueller’s report? To reopen the government during Trump’s month-long shutdown? To call a single witness in Trump’s impeachment “trial”?
Oh, and did we mention Merrick Garland? No one will ever forget what Mitch McConnell did with Merrick Garland or Brett Kavanaugh.
If Republicans keep control of the Senate and Mitch McConnell stays majority leader, he will make sure that Democrats get nothing done. But here’s the thing: Even if Democrats do take back the Senate, McConnell will do everything possible to block and obstruct in the minority. Mitch doesn’t care about rules or norms. He’ll break the Senate even more than he already has until Republicans can take back control again.
There’s only one solution: This November, Mitch McConnell is up for reelection, and we MUST defeat him once and for all. That’s why we started Ditch Mitch – a completely grassroots-funded organization that is solely dedicated to defeating Mitch McConnell.
Our plan is simple: In order to take Mitch on and finally send him packing, we need to fund and run a full-scale campaign starting right now. That means exposing the truth about him to voters through TV and digital ads and mobilizing & organizing on the ground.
McConnell has a campaign war chest filled with millions of dollars from corporate PACs and special interests, and he’s already using it to try to drown out Amy McGrath in millions of dollars of attack ads. We’re fighting back, but we’re counting on everyday people like you to help us build a massive grassroots movement if we’re going to actually defeat the most powerful man in Washington.
Taking on McConnell won’t be easy, but we’re not doing it because it will be easy. We’re doing it precisely because it is hard – and because it’s the only way we’ll restore some sanity back to the Senate.
Thank you for being a part of this from the very start,
The Ditch Mitch Fund
