Dear friends,
We've prevented the worst-case scenario, we've stopped a far-right majority in the French parliament. But more than that, the Nouveau Front Populaire, an alliance of Green and left parties achieved a strong progressive result that gives us hope.

Now, we're at a turning point. We've avoided the worst, but there's still much more to do to build a positive future for France and the European Union.
The French election results show a fragmented political landscape, not uncommon in Europe, and with the far right gaining more and more popularity.
This surge stems from years of normalisation of their ideas and rhetoric, social neglect, and an electoral system that works in their favour.
Our task ahead is substantial:
- Rebuild trust in our institutions
- Address social issues and cost of living crises
- Prioritise the fight against climate change
- Strengthen our democracy
In France and across Europe, progressives and green forces have shown that they are the answer to the far right. In Spain, Poland, the UK and now in France, people want governments capable of real change – governments that improve people's lives and drive forward the green transition that we urgently need.
This current situation highlights the flaws in our political system. It's clear that France needs institutional reform to better reflect the will of the people and ensure effective governance.
While we're relieved to have avoided the worst-case scenario, this isn't the moment to rest. The threat of far-right governments in Europe remains real. We will work tirelessly to rebuild trust, improve our social infrastructure, and thereby erode the far right's breeding ground.
Together, we can create a fairer, greener, and more democratic France and Europe. The path forward is challenging, but with your support, we can resist and build back stronger.
