At IJF, we commissioned a detailed analysis of Donald Trump’s bigoted, exclusionary, and harmful anti-immigrant agenda as part of our Too Extreme to Lead Campaign. Needless to say, our report uncovered the serious dangers his potential return to the presidency would bring.

During his first term, numerous children were forcibly taken away from their families, enduring immense trauma and long-term psychological damage. The public outrage and bipartisan political backlash clearly demonstrated their unpopularity and the widespread opposition of these policies. These acts violated basic human rights, undermined due process, and failed to protect asylum seekers.

Legal and ethical challenges led to lawsuits against the Trump administration, resulting in several court rulings against the practice. Our sister organization, the National Immigration Law Center, played a critical role in demanding answers and accountability for these abuses.

Despite the damage he caused, Trump is dangerously close to securing a second term as president.
