This is what former Congresswoman Giffords had to say about my track record on gun violence:

"Gun violence is a moral stain on the conscience of our nation, and for too long, our lax gun laws have put countless American families and communities at risk. Our children are growing up in a world where they live in fear of going to school, attending church services and concerts, and even picking up groceries with their parents. It's unacceptable and we have to do better.

This November, we must come together to elect champions who will put public safety first — champions like Representative Rick Larsen. In office, he has prioritized the needs of the next generation and fought for the passage of lifesaving measures to expand background checks, disarm domestic abusers, and fund the critically important community violence intervention programs that help keep our streets safe. I know Representative Larsen has what it takes to continue making progress in this must-win fight, and I'm proud to support him for reelection this fall."

I am grateful for her support, and I am eager to continue my work to put public safety first:

- I voted for the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the first major legislation on gun safety since 1994.
- I have voted to establish universal background checks, ban large-capacity magazines and bump stocks, require safe gun storage, and raise the legal age for buying semiautomatic rifles to 21.

I believe there is more work to be done to create safer communities for our families, and I will continue to support and create legislation that prevents gun violence.
