This is your opportunity to:
* Learn about your local government, what it does, and how it works
* Collaborate with neighbors and share your local knowledge with King County representatives
* Provide input on King County projects and programs
We are looking for residents, business owners, youth (over 16), community leaders, and non-profit staff to join one of 10 Community Advisory Groups, one group (of 10-13 people) for each community service area [ [link removed] ] in unincorporated King County. Members make a two-year commitment and receive a small stipend.?
What you will do
Groups will meet at least once every three months in-person or virtually. Members may be asked to meet more frequently if there is a particular project that needs more community input. In the kickoff meeting, the groups will hear from multiple King County departments about the services and programs. This will help build knowledge of how King County operates and what it does.?
Community Advisory Group members will review and prioritize the current list of projects, programs, and services (Community Needs List) and Community Needs List survey results for their respective area. This is our first priority and deadline!?
In addition, each Community Advisory Group will work on projects and programs unique to their area. For example, subarea planners are starting a long-term planning project for the Greater Maple Valley area, a project that sets the vision for the area for the next 20 years. The Greater Maple Valley Community Advisory Group will discuss and have their say on how we develop this plan.?
The Snoqualmie Valley/Northeast King County (SNNEKC) Community Advisory Group tested this model earlier this year and it worked well. This group agreed to stay on to provide input on other projects. Thank you! ?
