### **The Problem with Earth’s Core**

This sounds like something straight out of a sci-fi movie. New research shows that the solid core at the center of Earth has been slowing down. This core, which is made predominantly of iron, may affect quite a few things on the Earth’s surface, where we live.

The main thing is that there may be small shifts in the magnetic field, which can also impact the length of our days.

Is there anything we can do to speed up the core again? Nope. So now we have to wait and see how this plays out.
