John,
The Delaware General Assembly recently concluded an extraordinary session, showcasing why it is so vital to keep our state government blue. Our Democrats in Dover passed crucial legislation to support our schools, economy, environment, and every Delawarean.
We approved a $6.1 billion budget, raising teacher salaries and boosting Medicaid funding by $175 million. Our commitment to a sustainable future was evident with the Energy Solutions Act, setting up offshore wind projects and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Social justice advanced with a constitutional amendment reducing reliance on cash bail.
Democrats secured victories for reproductive rights, ensuring access to abortion and emergency contraception. We also passed a $1.1 billion capital improvement bill and a $98.4 million Grant-in-Aid bill to support nonprofits, fire companies, and paramedic services.
Throughout this session, we also made progress on several key platform issues like gun safety, abortion access, and addressing the housing crisis. These achievements highlight the power of Democratic leadership in building a fairer, more equitable Delaware.
It’s clear: elections matter. We’re grateful for your support which allows our Democratic elected officials to continue working on behalf of our state and everyone who calls it home.
With gratitude,
Travis
