Now accepting applications for the SMART FY 2024 Keep Young Athletes Safe Grant Program.
The SMART Office is accepting applications for its FY 2024 Keep Young Athletes Safe (KYAS) grant program. The KYAS program aims to safeguard amateur athletes by preventing sexual, physical and emotional abuse in the athletic programs of the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) and the national governing bodies (NGB).
The selected grantee will design and implement measures to protect young athletes by developing educational materials, training programs and policies, and necessary tools to help prevent and address abuse. Additionally, the grantee will develop background screening policies for new and existing USOPC organizational staff, including coaches, instructors and volunteers, and oversee regular and random audits to ensure that, once implemented, the policies and procedures to prevent and identify amateur athlete abuse are followed correctly.
Award Eligibility: Nonprofit, nongovernmental entities with nationally recognized expertise in the identification and prevention of sexual, physical and emotional abuse in the athletic programs of the USOPC and each NGB.
Funding applications are submitted to the Office of Justice Programs in a two-step process, with initial information submitted to Grants.gov and the full application completed in JustGrants.
