Dear Partner in Ministry,
You may find these resources helpful for your ministry:
Every Sunday through the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ (“Corpus Christi”), Catholic Charities USA will offer spiritual reflections on the Mass readings for the day, as it does in Advent in Lent. These messages are suitable for forwarding throughout professional networks and are easily shared on social media. Click here to subscribe. (If you already receive CCUSA’s reflections there is no need to re-subscribe.)
To assist in preparing for Earth Day (April 22), the 5th anniversary of Laudato si’ (May 24), and the Season of Creation (September 1 – October 4), the Catholic Climate Covenant’s Catholic Climate Project provides resources for prayer/worship, service, advocacy, and event planning. The Catholic Climate Project also offers grants of up to $1000 to assist parishes, schools, religious communities, and other Catholic institutions care for creation and act on climate. Apply here.
Many Catholic Charities staffs, unable to gather together for prayer in-person, are currently providing other prayer opportunities. For instance:
- Since Hurricane Katrina, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New Orleans offers a weekly “prayer circle” for the special intention of staff. Here’s a sample.
- Catholic Charities Community Services of Arizona (Phoenix) solicits prayer intentions from parishes through “Prayer Champions.” These intentions are then offered up, virtually, by Catholic Charities staff and the Prayer Champions each Wednesday morning. Here’s more.
- Catholic Community Services of Western Washington (Seattle) is offering “My Virtual Field Hospital Chapel” to staff. Staff volunteers lead prayers and meditations from various traditions at different times to accommodate colleagues working at different times all day and night.
May God's peace be with you and those you serve at this time.
