A Month in Review: June 2024 Congressional Update

Dear john,

June was one of those months where after years of hard work, it finally paid off when I joined President Biden at the White House to celebrate his executive order granting protections to the undocumented spouses of U.S. citizens and graduates of American universities, including Dreamers. I’m so proud to say the order was inspired and guided by my very own legislation, the American Families United Act.

This cause has been near and dear to my heart ever since I heard the story of El Pasoan Edgar Falcon. I’ve introduced the American Families United Act every Congress since 2018. I’m proud of President Biden took this step, and will continue to work in Congress to reform and fix our broken immigration system.

Our interns are a critical part of my team, answering phone calls, greeting El Pasoans, doing research, and so much more.

I had a chance to sit down and have lunch with the interns in my El Paso office and thank them for their work on behalf of our wonderful community.

It has been a privilege to work with Gen. Isenhower during his time in charge of Fort Bliss.

June is Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month and I spent a day with the Alzheimer’s Association to share updates on my work in Congress.

All of us have a role to play in the fight to end Alzheimer’s, and I won’t stop working toward common sense legislation to make this a reality.

I hosted a roundtable discussion with so many amazing organizations to learn more about ongoing trends and remedies in honor of Gun Violence Awareness Month.
