April 25, 1917: On this date a charter is granted by the American Federation of Labor to the "National Federation of Postal Employees," a product of the merger of the National Federation of Post Office Clerks and the Brotherhood of Railway Postal Clerks.
Correction: The April 13 edition of This Week in Labor History incorrectly said that Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthdate was April 15. His birthdate was January 15.
