Whether we're looking at the numerous benefits of marijuana with health care or the vastly disproportionate incarcerations of people of color, Iowa is far behind on legalizing marijuana.

We need to recognize that the roots of our marijuana laws were deeply discriminatory. The mass criminalization of people of color, particularly young African Americans, is as profound a system of racial control as the Jim Crow laws were in this country until the mid-1960s.

It's time we legalize marijuana and open up our state for business, which will provide new revenue for both urban, suburban, and rural Iowans.

Join us tonight at 7pm for our Virtual Town Hall on the legalization of marijuana, with special guests from both the law enforcement sector and from the marijuana retail industry to discuss the many pros of legalization.
