My father was working in West Africa, and we were living there when radical Iranians invaded the U.S. embassy in Tehran.
As a precaution, the U.S. Marines brought all U.S. citizens and green card holders to the U.S. Embassy.
The look on their eyes said “Nothing will happen to you tonight. Not on my watch”
In that moment, I knew I wanted to be JUST like them. I wanted to grow up and defend the country that gave safe harbor to me and my family.
Fast forward ten years, and I attended the U.S. Naval Academy and served for 25 years as a Navy Special Operations Officer, retiring as a Captain.
There is no honor like serving your country, and I’m ready for a new capacity of service: representing the Commonwealth of Virginia in the U.S. Senate.
You see, there’s a Latin saying we like to use in the Navy: “Non sibi sed patriae.” It means “not self but country,” and it’s a phrase that’s foreign to too many of today’s politicians.
Politicians like Tim Kaine have completely lost touch with the American people. They’d rather keep our borders wide open to criminals than take care of our veterans and our law-abiding citizens. They’re more interested in keeping special, high-dollar interests happy than serving the people who elected them.
As someone who dedicated my life to fighting for our country, it makes me absolutely sick.
I risked my life to keep America safe, and now, politicians like Tim Kaine are throwing away all of our servicemembers’ hard work.
I won’t sit back idly and let him do that without a fight.
Hung Cao: I came to America with little besides the clothes on my back. But with faith, dedication, and hard work, my family and I made it to America. I’m running for Senate to defend the American Dream that gave me everything.
The Left is on a war path against the values that make us the greatest country on Earth. I didn’t put my life on the line defending those values in Special Operations in the Navy to let the Left destroy them.
